Sundance 2011, Films To Watch

‘Kaboom’ Directed by Greg Araki, Starring Thomas Dekker, Haley Bennett, Juno Temple, Jimmy Duval, Kelly Lynch

I’ve been dying to do a list of films I want to see at this year’s Sundance Film Festival but am kind of exhausted (but not complaining!) from prepping for this weekend’s Golden Globes all week while simultaneously covering late night events and also prepping a shoot for Monday, so I’m going to make it short, sweet and to the point. These are a few of the films I plan on seeing next weekend at Sundance (last year I managed to see three a day which isn’t much compared to some people’s schedule but pretty significant considering the amount of late night parties we couldn’t pass up). Whether it’s the story, the cast, the director or all of the above these are films I’m excited about.

‘Like Crazy’ Directed by Drake Doremus, Starring Anton Yelchin & Jennifer Lawrence

‘The Music Never Stopped’ Directed by Jim Kohlberg, Starring JK Simmons, Lou Taylor Pucci, Cara Seymour and Julia Ormond

‘Higher Ground’ Directed by Vera Farmiga, Starring Vera Farmiga

‘The Ledge’ Directed by Matthew Chapman, Starring Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Terence Howard

‘Meek’s Cutoff’, Directed by Kelly Reichardt, Starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Shirley Henderson, Neal Huff

‘My Idiot Brother’ Directed by Jesse Peretz, Starring Zooey Deschanel, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Emily Mortimer

And of course Miranda July’s ‘The Future’ and Elgin James’ ‘Little Birds’, both of which I already waxed poetic about and can’t wait to see.
