Day Look, At The Santa Anita Races

Sunday we went to see a friend’s horse race at the Santa Anita race track, which was a total treat. I love going to things like that, baseball games, football games, horse races, anything in that setting is always fun and if you’ve never been to the races I highly recommend it. I have a feeling this will become a regular event in my life now and am all about dressing up for the occasion so of course I need more outfit ideas. I love this polks dot dress from Topshop with cute Christian Louboutin heels and a classic Chanel quilted clutch and of course, the requisite fedora. What we wore yesterday… Continue reading

Me Char Clutches

I am obsessed with these Me Char clutches designed by Charmaine Ho. Nikki Deloach wore the brown one to an event for the Thirst Project a few nights ago. We paired it with a really pretty print skirt from Tory Burch, an Aryn K top and Aldo heels, which she actually wore to another event but they were completely covered up the first time by her gorgeous gown so we decided to recycle them like the good environmentally conscientious gals that we are. Check out Nikki’s full look below. Continue reading

New York

Leave it to New York magazine to sum it up quietly and beautifully. I feel bad for not being there with my East Coast friends and family for the storm or the clean up. My place on 4th and Avenue C had no power until Saturday along with everyone else on the Lower East Side, but I’m in LA right now so trying to ease my guilt by gathering stuff to send to wherever it’s needed. The Recovery.Org site lists all the neighborhoods in need with direct phone numbers to contact. Friends who work with brands that can donate, please send jeans, sweaters, coats, t-shirts and shoes to our beloved NYC and those that have lost their homes and belongings. Direct donations can go to first responders like UPS, USPS, and FedEx. A list below of all of the emergency stuff they need and where to send it to in New Jersey as well. I love you New York, you make me happy even when you make my heart ache. Sending you love and more. Continue reading

Jessica Eaton at M+B

M+B is having an opening of Jessica Eaton‘s first show in LA this Saturday from 6 to 8pm at their West Hollywood gallery. Her work uses “a wide array of experimental, analogue-based photographic techniques such as color separation filtration, additive color theory, multiple exposures, motion blur, in-camera masking, cross polarization and lighting techniques,” which I am transfixed with. Polytopes runs November 3rd through January 5th 2013, 612 North Almont Drive.

A Man’s Story, Ozwald Boateng

I met British fashion designer Ozwald Boateng ten years ago in Moscow while working for Russian Vogue. That trip of his is one of the scenes in the new documentary “A Man’s Story” directed by Varon Bonicos, which covers a twelve year span of his life as a designer and family man. He is here in Los Angeles this week promoting the film which, debuts in select theaters tomorrow and we got to sit down and reminisce a little. I watched the film earlier this week and loved it. Of all the fashion documentaries I have seen this is one of the most Continue reading

A Royal Affair

I went to a screening last night of director Nikolaj Arcel’s “A Royal Affair,” starring Mads Mikkelsen, Alicia Vikander and Mikkel Følsgaard which will also be showing at AFI next week. The film tells the real life story of the British born queen of Denmark, who was married to the mentally ill King Christian VII in the 18th century, and her affair with the royal physician Struensee. Struensee was part of the Enlightment and influenced the King to banish oppressive laws and censorship for which he was rewarded by death (there is no spoiler, this is history, and a fascinating one at that). The film is so beautifully done, from the story itself to the costumes and art direction. I hope it wins it’s Oscar for which it has been submitted under the Best Foreign Language film category. Watching this film seemed somewhat extra appropriate a week before our elections…

Cosmic Kids, Freight To My Soul

Amazing new track from local LA duo Ron Poznansky and Dan Terndrup aka Cosmic Kids. Love this track, “Freight To My Soul,” which Chit Chat records is releasing in November as a limited run 12″.
