Part of my concern with climate change is purely selfish because frankly I don’t want New York City to end up under water because what will happen to all the stuff in my Lower East Side apartment? And it’s also a very generous concern because what will the future generations do without Manhattan? Putting all attempts to lighten the mood aside, this is, in all seriousness one of the most frightening issues on our current platter of global dilemmas. Vogue & HBO, The Editor’s Eye

A little obsessed with this shot of Natalia Vodianova by Annie Leibovitz from Vogue’s new documentary “The Editor’s Eye,” which premieres December 6th on HBO along with a new book with the same title. Vogue’s fashion editors, past and present, are well represented on the screen and in print, including the legendary Babs Simpson and my amazing old boss, Polly Mellen as well as Grace Coddington, Phyllis Posnick and Camilla Nickerson.

Bottega Veneta Vegan Bags

Over the past decade there have been a number of designers who have opted to include (or simply focus on) vegan options for their customers and thanks to the growing number of celebrities like Abbie Cornish, Natalie Portman, Alicia Silvertstone, Christina Applegate, and so many more, who refuse to wear leather and fur the luxury industry has had to rethink their approach to both. So now along with long standing fur and leather free brands like Stella McCartney comes Bottega Veneta with their “Carta Giapponese” clutch made of tightly woven washi, a delicate paper derived from the bark of the Japanese kozo tree. The washi is cut, left with raw edges, intricately woven in that classic Bottega style, lined with silk and finished with brass hardware.

Rag & Bone Celebrates It’s Opening In LA

This week has turned into memory lane in the best way possible. After running into an old Bard friend at a film screening earlier this week, I ran into yet another Bardian at the Rag & Bone store opening that Nikki Deloach and I went to last night. The Vogue crowd (including Ms. Wintour, who has been in town this week to host the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund show and dinner at The Chateau and Bouchon respectively) was all accounted for while Nick Zinner, the said Bard graduate of the night, spun tunes with Karen O by his side. Also amongst the crowd was my old friend Tanja Ruhnke who used to be the gem of the KCD crown in both Paris and NYC, which is where we met back in 1998, but as of March she decamped to the kingdom of Wainwright and Neville. It was great to see that lovely smile of hers. Such a fun night, hurrah for yet another one of New York’s best designers to finally touch down in LA (though that is no longer a surprise as LA is now the place to be…) Nikki wearing a Tory Burch shirt and clutch with a Paul & Joe skirt and Aldo heels above and pics of me and Nikki, who I styled for the night, as well as other shots from the event below. Something In The Air

In the grand tradition of French teen angst revolutionary films, “Something in The Air” from filmmaker Olivier Assayas will surely do well in and around college towns that surround the likes of Reed, Oberlin, Sarah Lawrence and Bard (there’s even a John Ashbery reference for the Bard students). Starring Clement Metayer as Gilles, a high school student in Paris knee deep in the revolutionary counterculture of the time, the film is beautiful and quietly observant of the transition from idealistic revolution to the realistic changes in life.
