Wes Gordon Fall 2012

Wes Gordon is my new obsession. Done. Who is wearing that mesh top and gold fabulosity skirt? Between his Southern roots (born and raised in Atlanta Georgia) and his fashion education at London’s infamous Central Saint Martin’s it’s no wonder the 25 year old up and comer gets the whole victorian modern punk lady vibe perfectly. Tory Burch Fall 2012

I went crazy over Tory Burch this morning. Loved all the flowers, plaids, tweeds and layering. And those Mary Janes! And the bags! Also intrigued by her foray into gowns at the end… Love the vintage vibe one above, very Zooey Deschanel. This 9am show was the only one I got to see today, instead I was pulling gorgeous dresses the rest of the day for Tia Mowry who is nominated (several times) at this years Image Awards which take place this Friday in LA. I got some really beautiful gowns for her that I’m excited about. I think it’s going to be my first Skype fitting… Continue reading

Lower Dens, “Brains”

Baltimore-based band Lower Dens‘ second album, Nootropics (pronounced No-eh-tro-pics) is out May 1st in the US and April 30th everywhere else on Ribbon Music. “Brains” is a track off that album that I am obsessing over.

Zero + Maria Cornejo Fall 2012

Always one of the highlights of my week, I am determined to get one of the girls I style into something from this collection this season. I love Zero by Maria Cornejo, such a fun show to go to. Continue reading

Imitation of Christ, Doyle Mueser

I styled Imitation of Christ again this season and we had our presentation Sunday afternoon at Buddakan. This season Tara Subkoff collaborated with Amber Dolye and Jake Mueser of Doyle + Mueser who did all of the beautiful bespoke tailored suits, coats and skirts. I am going thru a serious obsession with navy and black so was really into the blue shoes we got from Aldo. I loved the white shirts and black satin skirts, those shirts were fun to play with. Though as always it was a nightmare with shoes and shoe sizes. Why can’t models come with adjustable feet? I am sure I am Continue reading

Whitney Houston, RIP

There is nothing more heartbreaking than watching a talented artist rise, fall, crash and burn and be remembered for the tragedy of their death rather than the talent and skills that brought them into our hearts in the first place. And as much as we will reminisce and wax poetic about Whitney Houston ‘the artist’ what will always lurk in the back of our minds and in the shadow of her old soul musical skills and that heavenly voice is what happened to her as a result of all of the above. There is no greater unanswered question than why certain artists are so tortured and simultaneously shine such a light onto our world. It’s a timeless question that will probably never be answered and will sadly get repeated time and time and time again. RIP Whitney, on the eve of the Grammy’s… Continue reading

Amanda Pearl Fall 2012

When Amanda Pearl launched her bag line a few years ago it was pretty obvious she had come up with something special. Her rounded clutch ended up in a lot of Hollywood’s most stylish hands including my gal Taryn Manning (pics below of her with the clutch I pulled for her two years ago). So every season in addition to the gold mine she struck with the rounded clutch I’m obsessed with, Amanda adds some new gorgeousness to the line. Thursday night I ran from our fittings for Imitation all the way downtown to catch the tail end of a cocktail party at the Empire Hotel that has become an Amanda Pearl fashion week ritual. Not only did I get to see the new bags but I also got to catch up with some of the coolest ladies in the business (pics of the gals and bags below…) Continue reading

Tess Giberson Fall 2012

Tess Giberson is not only one of my favorite designers but one of my old friends and a highlight of fashion week for me. I am so happy she is back full force doing shows and growing her namesake line. She is insanely talented and each season gets better and better, if that was even possible, so I was kind of secretly pleased that our hair and make up test for the show I am styling got pushed yesterday and I was able to make the show in the morning. I love when the universe works with me… Continue reading

Sons of Essex

I finally made it to Matt Levine‘s new place on the LES, Sons of Essex and it was AMAZING. I’ve been hearing about this place every time we’ve hung out with Matt over the past year and I was bummed not to be in NY when it opened back in October. It was great to finally taste that cornbread and mac and cheese (yes, I’m well over 30, it’s fashion week and I had the nerve to eat pasta… AND cheese!… And cornbread!) We loved the decor and the vibe too. Liv Tyler was at the table next to us and came over to say hello to Tara Subkoff who was my dinner date and who I’m working with again this year, styling the Imitation of Christ show for (it’s tomorrow). And the menu is KILLER. Crab and artichoke Continue reading
