Beirut – East Harlem by Revolver USA
New Mexico-born and now Brooklyn-based, Zach Condon’s Beirut has a new single out which I love. Dreamy and danceable. They’re working on their third album now. Noreen in NYC, 2006, above.

Sophia Banks and Marissa Ribisi, the fab designing duo behind Whitley Kros launched a super cute T-shirt collection a while back and I was one of the lucky recipients of the Indian Head T above. Aside from a great graphic the T-shirt is soft as butter and cut to the body in a super flattering way to make you look and feel sexy and girlie. Everything a California girl could ask for and it seems I have become one of those… I love the Bolex on the opening page of their website too. Continue reading
I am totally obsessing over these summer looks from Wink, a NYC-based boutique (both online and in three different locations in NYC) that also launched their own clothing line with the same name. I’ve fallen head first into this season’s maxi-dress trend and these are some of the cutest ones I’ve seen and super affordable. Wink also sells lots of other great brands, everything from shoes and bags to dresses and jewelry, at really good prices. More dresses below… Continue reading
Drooling over everything, the prints, the stripes, the bags, the shoes, the socks. Mulberry never disappoints and makes me want to play dress up forever. Reminds me of how fun it is to be a girl.
Between swag and all the stuff I get in the mail, I have a ton of beauty products to choose from at all times on my shelf. So sometimes it takes me a minute to get around to using something because I really like to try stuff before I write or rave about it. Which is why it’s taken six months for me to try Prive‘s Vert shampoo & conditioner. And I wouldn’t normally even be raving about either because, well, it’s just shampoo & conditioner. That said, this stuff is amazing. Smells like heaven (or a garden in June), feels like silk and leaves my hair, yes, shiny and smooth. Plus one of it’s specialties is that it doesn’t strip away color treated hair. And on top of all that the Continue reading
Love this young line out of NYC, Maisonette 1977. Designed by Johns Hopkins University and Parsons grad Jane Ibrahim who spent a decade working in the design studios of everyone from Michael Kors, Yigal Azrouel, Oscar de la Renta, Theory, Cynthia Steffe and Bill Blass before launching her own line now in its 4th season. She sells online and at specialty boutiques in the US and abroad. And of course in LA, my favorite boutique, Jeannie Lee’s Satine, carries the line.
This morning I got a peak at South African born designer Marc Bouwer’s new jewelry line for Simon G. Bouwer. The collection was inspired by Hollywood sirens Marlene Dietrich and Gretta Garbo, “who always had wonderful jewelry,” as well as many of the red carpet ladies Marc Bouwer is accustomed to dressing himself, with pieces made of white, rose and yellow gold with all organic precious stones. Marc’s favorite piece was a chunky gold bracelet made of 18K 2-tone white and yellow gold bracelet with 3.15tcw diamonds, costing a cool $28,820 though the majority of pieces are much more affordable. One lucky girl will win one of my favorite pieces in the collection, Continue reading
LA artist Patrick Lee has a new show of drawings opening this weekend at Western Project. I am totally digging the simple yet intricately detailed images and his effort to “mine the transient and elusive definitions of masculinity”. Love it. Kind of reminds me of this photograph I took below of a Georgian birthday boy ten years ago in Russia. Lee takes photographs of men on the streets of America then creates composites from a slew of those images to create his detailed hand done sketches. Opening reception is this Saturday, June 18th 2011, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at 2762 S. La Cienega Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90034, 310.838.0609. The show will be up through July 22nd, 2011.
While everyone else is hustling to show Resort 2012 (when does that even hit stores??? January of next year??) Tom Ford is still showing Fall 2011 to the world. The collection Tom Ford presented back in February to a private audience of select buyers, editors and celebrities is finally visible to the rest of us peons. It is gorgeous no doubt but I was kind of disappointed that the video lookbook wasn’t an actual video. But the clothes do not disappoint…
So chic. Love love love all the layering and tones and slightly slouchy mood. I have never been disappointed by Celine‘s British it-girl Creative Director Phoebe Philo who has been churning out sweet looks ever since her days with Stella McCartney at Chloe which happens to be the only time I actually bought a lot of Chloe. I still haven’t forgiven a certain someone in Moscow who threw one of my Chloe sweaters in the WASH followed by the DREYER which of course ruined it. Good grief…
