Tom Ford’s Beauty Collection

I think we’ve all learned by now that whatever Tom Ford touches turns to gold. I can’t get enough of his sublime eye and aesthetic on every level so am of course completely obsessed by the full beauty line he is launching. Full disclosure, I have yet to try any of the products, but who cares? Look at how pretty the bottles look and I love that he uses them himself (according to WWD today). The remnants of his last runway show after-party for Gucci in Milan back in 2004 are above. It was a good party to say the least. More pics from the sinful Fête in the link below… The line will be sold at Tom Ford boutiques as well as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Ave.

Tommy Hilfiger Pops in on LA

Tommy Hilfiger had a little housewarming in LA last night to celebrate his newest pop-up store. Within hours a cute mini-Hamptons style shack popped up in the middle of the field at The Grove in West Hollywood where LA’s fashion fans came out to support Mr. Hilfiger himself. The preppy clad crowd included Elle magazine’s Joe Zee, Malin Akerman, Hailee Steinfeld, Jason Lewis, Danny Masterson, stylist and Confederacy store owner Ilaria Urbinati and my favorite gal, actress & musician Taryn Manning. I dressed Taryn in a Tommy Hilfiger dress and blazer and on her feet were the gorgeous stems from Burak Uyan that I am obsessed with. Click below to get the full view. The Grove pop up shop opens today for three days and the photo above is from the NYC pop-up store in the Meatpacking District they opened on May 5th. Continue reading

Colony Palms

The Colony Palms is one of my favorite places to stay in Palm Springs and today JetSetter is offering rooms for only $115 a night. A pretty rad deal if you ask me. It’s got an old school vibe, small and relatively low key with a great little restaurant. Yeah, that’s not the hotel above, just a view from one of my favorite houses in Palm Springs but you can click below for a view of the fabulousness. Continue reading

LA’s Dry Bar in San Francisco & NYC

Nothing better than having a great reliable affordable place to get your hair done. Since opening in LA a mere 18 months ago Allie Webb’s Dry Bar has expanded to seven locations and is now opening its first San Francisco salon Friday June 17th at 1908 Fillmore St. (Between Wilmot & Bush). They also just signed new leases in NYC on 16th & 5th Ave and at Le Parker Meridien in Midtown which they plan on having open by this September, just in time for NY Fashion Week, of course.

Cinespia Screenings

One of my favorite things to do in LA is go to the Hollywood Cemetery for Cinespia‘s Saturday night screenings. It’s something I have been doing for years when I am in LA during those great summer months and this Saturday they are screening John Huston‘s 1948 classic, “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” which I’ve never seen. Director Werner Herzog will be there in person to present the film which as it turns out is his favorite film. It’s also a benefit for the Japanese disaster relief effort and just an all around great excuse to pack a basket of food and wine, grab your blanket and sit under the stars watching a great film with friends. For those of you who have never been to the cemetery Continue reading

Jeremy Jay, Dream Diary

OUT ON THE HIGHWAY by Jeremy Jay Official

Los Angeles born and bred (and now London-based) musician Jeremy Jay released Dream Diary, his fourth album, back in April. The tracks remind me of all the New Wave stuff we listened to in high school (and still do…) and I can’t stop pressing repeat. When is he playing Coachella? Or better yet, Sasquatch which is where I am thinking of jumping ship next year… Montana 1999, above.

Bonnaroo

I love this picture. Lisa Kereszi, an old friend of mine from Bard, took it at some club we were hanging out in while living in NYC in the late 90’s. She is now a respected photographer and teaches at Yale. I started scanning old photos recently and found this one which has always stayed in my mind. I love the energy and movement and it has a great music vibe. Which brings me to my point. Bonnaroo Music Festival is this weekend in Manchester, Tennessee. I am missing it this year but next year, it’s on the calendar. Nashville has been on my list of cities to see for a long time, I love it’s musical history and the scene that’s there now (from what I hear…) and I imagine Manchester is just a short drive away. This years line up includes Eminem, Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, The Decemberists, Florence + the Machine, Gogol Bordello, Scissor Sisters, Robyn, Deerhunter, Sleigh Bells, Best Coast, and that’s not even half the list.
