Gucci Guilty Pour Homme

Following the August launch of Gucci Guilty for women, a men’s version, Gucci Guilty Pour Homme will hits stores this March. I have yet to smell it but they promise notes of Italian citrus paired with lavender, cardamom, and orange flower anchored by cedar, sandalwood and amber accords. Sounds promising. Actor Chris Evans will co-star with Evan Rachel Wood in the ad campaign again which will also feature a soundtrack by one of my favorites, Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes doing her rendition of Depeche Mode’s “Strangelove”. Nice. The original ad campaign film for the women’s fragrance, directed by Frank Miller is below, with “Strangelove” performed by Friendly Fires.

Donna Karan Pre-Fall 2011

It’s not going to take a genius to figure out that I am loving this mostly brown, neutral toned collection from Donna Karan. I always love layers, leather, buckles and hardware. Love the female hunter look! Whenever I see a collection like this it reminds me how much I miss John Bartlett‘s women’s line which he sadly stopped doing years ago. He used to do this look so well for girls! John, when…???…!! And someone needs to rock that gown for the Globes next Sunday.

Balenciaga and Spain

Rizzoli is releasing a beautiful hardcover book curated by Hamish Bowles in April 2011 entitled Balenciaga and Spain. The book is filled with illustrations, photographs, past covers and fashion editorials of Cristobal Balenciaga‘s designs. The publication is timed with the exhibition’s move from the Queen Sophia Institute in NYC, to the de Young Museum in San Francisco from March 26th through July 4th and explores Spain’s heavy influence on the designer. It’s so easy to forget the roots of these amazing design houses but luckily there has been a slew of amazing historical books lately to remind us of where these legendary names come from. Love it.

Kate Middleton Begins!

I couldn’t help it. I’m going to have to join in the hoopla for just a minute because it is going to be fun! Prince William’s bride to be Kate Middleton has just graced her first official cover in the February issue of Tatler, of course. There is a 19-page special on the royal wedding inside the issue as well. Sweet. It’s hard to deny the romanticism of Princess Di and now Prince William. It’s a pretty fabulous cover too… If you’re going to do Warhol irony, this is definitely the way to do it. Plus, you have to absolutely love this girl because she did what so many of us are completely incapable of when it comes to a man and his follies: she waited patiently. Well done!

Little Birds & Juno Temple at Sundance 2011

This will surely be Juno Temple‘s year at Sundance. The actress has two films there and both seem like they’re going to be killer. Greg Araki‘s “Kaboom” and Elgin James’ “Little Birds”. Can’t wait!

Oh, Vanity Fair…

Let’s just say it, Vanity Fair USED to know what they were doing. They used to be one of the best magazines and reads around. But for the past two years they’ve lost their way. It seems the mass amount of online media, bloggers and thousands of other competitors creating content online has confused our elderly heroes and thrown them into a tailspin in regard to Continue reading

Nine West Fall 2011 Preview

I love finding something gorgeous AND affordable, like these brown babies from Nine West‘s Fall 2011 preview. Yes, I know, it’s weird to think about September of next year right now but that is the way of the world these days, deal with it… (I say that mostly for my own benefit…)

Chaiken and Capone

Chaiken and Capone used to do some great separates out of NYC in the late 90’s and now Julie Chaiken, who bought out the company from her partner a while ago, is re-launching the line for Spring 2011. Starting next month the now San Francisco-based designer will reintroduce Chaiken and Capone at Barneys Co-op in NYC and Cusp by Neiman Marcus. Their price points will be much more accessible this time around, which is good news as well.
