Oscar de la Renta, Pre-Fall 2011

Love Oscars ladies! I’m pretending the vest is faux, as it would be if I were to wear that look…

George Condo at the New Museum

I love George Condo‘s work, the most recent of which has a bit of flavor from some of my favorites… Francis Bacon, Lisa Yuskavage, Alex Katz, and Alice Neel rolled into one pop concoction. He’s gotten a lot of attention lately because of the Kanye West Runaway cover he did. This month he has his first US retrospective opening up at the New Museum in NYC. “George Condo: Mental States,” opens January 26th and runs through May 8, 2011.

Mumford & Sons, ‘The Cave’ One Year Later

It’s been almost a year since this song came out but it’s still spinning in my head and in my car. Amazing. Love these English boys. One of the best things to come out of 2010. Mumfordandsons.com

Tom Ford Runway Show, Spring Summer 2011

You have to admit, it’s all pretty genius. The clothes, the marketing, the presentation… the old school fashion world romanticism… brilliant and beautiful, Tom Ford never disappoints.

Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, “Come Undone”

Come Undone by Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan

From Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan‘s collaboration, (she of Belle and Sebastian and he of Screaming Trees). Love this track. Their album ‘Hawk’ came out in October of 2010. Side note, that’s my niece Catherine in the photo… Totally unrelated, just wanted a melancholy excuse…

Layer Cake Wine

We had a bottle of the 2009 Napa Valley Layer Cake Cabernet Friday and it was amazing. Really inexpensive ($17 for the bottle I bought) but so good! And I am completely obsessed with the graphics on the label, simple and beautiful. Layercakewine.com

Anastasia Dramatically Nourishing Antioxidant Eye Crème

I finally started using the Dramatically Nourishing Antioxidant Eye Crème from Anastasia of Beverly Hills that got sent to me months ago around the time it came out on the market. Sometimes it takes me a while to get around to using a product because my bathroom shelves are packed with stuff to try. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and it’s even better than the Line Erasing Serum I used earlier this year, which I also really loved. The perfect spackle. This stuff also smells really good.

Reading & Eating, NY & LA

The competition between NYC and LA is fierce on all subjects, especially food. I tend to defend whatever coast is being attacked in my presence since I am eternally attached to and in love with both (I admit I’ve always had commitment issues). For foodies in NYC, there has long been an assumption that the LA food scene is not only incomparable to the overwhelmingly phenomenal scene in NYC but that it continues to be and always will be out-shined by it’s bigger smarter sister on the East Coast. Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that argument is officially dead. Continue reading

Burberry Lace-up Leather Boots

I want lots of Burberry next season (what else is new). I love this gorgeous pre-Fall 2011 dress and coat. They would both go perfectly with the most perfect leather boots, also from Burberry Prorsum. Gorgeous colors, love the shape and slouch of the boot. Timeless.
