Chvrches, The Bones of What You Believe

Will Brittain, A Teacher

I hosted several dinners at Sundance this past January for some of my favorite films and one of them, “A Teacher,” directed by young director Hannah Fidell, which I saw and loved during the festival, opens next month in NY and LA. The lead actor, Will Brittain, who hails from Austin via Louisiana roots, is here in LA now and he and I did a small shoot last week in Silverlake. Will is wearing a Hugo Boss shirt, Alexander Olch tie, Levi’s jeans and Tsubo shoes above. The trailer as well as more from our shoot below. Is it just me or does he look a little like a young Channing Tatum? After our shoot we went for lunch at Cafe Figaro where I made him tell me the story of how he proposed to his fiance. It included hidden clues, surprises, a spa treatment and a busload of old school romanticism. Apparently there are good men hiding in Austin, Texas. Continue reading →

Big Bear, Camping

We are going camping tomorrow at Big Bear! Yes, it’s true. And no, even if you had a gun to my head I could not tell you the last time I went camping. Maybe 1985? But I’ve got my gear packed: a big blanket instead of a sleeping bag, wine instead of water and plenty of fresh fruit and veggies to counter all the junk food I know I will be “snacking” on. God bless America! That above, by the way, is Russia. Side note here, we are as of this week boycotting all Russian Vodkas until Putin and his sad homophobes catch up with the rest of us and stop supporting all of those awful bigoted anti-gay laws they have been proudly spewing. Gin martinis all around please! Have a great weekend! xox

Heroin.

These days I don’t often think about the guy I dated from 2005 to 2007, until I moved to LA full time, mostly to get away from him. But when news of heroin overdoses and addiction surface in the media, which is a sad regular occurrence, he still always comes to mind. I don’t usually talk about “celebrity gossip” here either because frankly, other people’s personal lives are none of my business and that’s not what this blog is about, but when someone in the public eye overdoses on heroin it brings back sad and awful memories. Wilma Schumann Hydra Fresh Mist

Love this Hydra Fresh Mist from Wilma Schumann that showed up in my mailbox the other day. You can use it for the face to restore moisture and keep skin hydrated, but I started using it on my arms and legs just to try it and it was like butter on my skin without the grease. Just spray, absorb and go.
