Lights, Running With The Boys

I can’t stop pushing repeat on this track from Lights aka Canadian Valerie Poxleitner. It’s the only thing I want to listen to night and day, inspiring me endlessly on so many levels. I dare you not to listen again. The track is off her new album Little Machines, which was released September of 2014.

Roots, Grace Bag

bag_roots_Grace_bag

I’ve been carrying the Roots Grace bag recently and am completely head over heels for it. The shape, the feel, the color of the bag is chic and simple and goes with everything. Roots has been making a comeback in the US the past few years with their classes designs of clothing and accessories for men and women, which they have a timeless feel for.

Cheeky Home #EatDrinkThink

Cheeky Home

Feeding people is one of my favorite activities and I get as much pleasure out of cooking a meal for friends as I do hosting a big dinner for a brand or feeding strangers on the street hot pancakes from Norm’s. There is something comforting and human about the act of feeding people, it is kind and makes us feel loved, regardless of which side of the fork you are on. PJ Brice, the founder of Cheeky Home taps into that warm feeling and spreads the food and love all around with his new company, which launched product at Target only a few months ago. The company partnered up with Feeding America to donate a meal every time you buy one of their paper products, which include plates, cups and other essentials for the table. They just reached one million meals bought in the their first four months. That is incredible. They are the only paper product I will buy now for my BBQ and birthday parties. Cheeky, you have my heart. Below, evidence of a fun evening with the Cheeky peeps in West Hollywood last night at a new place, which I also immediately fell in love with, Stir Market, where they carry one of my favorite wines from Art + Farm as well. New Foot Fetish, Diadora

155156-C4347 002

My latest foot fetish is a new pair of sneakers from Diadora, the Italian shoe maker known for killer athletic kicks and apparel. The company was founded by Marcello Danieli in 1948 and still makes all of their shoes in Italy (where else?). On or off the field they are pretty hot and cool. Continue reading

S X S W 2015 Preview

rangleklods

So much stuff happening at SXSW as always, Geoff Barrow (Portishead) and his composer partner Ben Salisbury scored Alex Garland’s sci-fi thriller & directorial debut film Ex Machina. The North American premiere is happening during Interactive on March 14, with a private after-party featuring Geoff & Ben Djing, followed by a panel the next day. And I am really digging this electronic band, Rangleklods, who will debut their US single and video for “lost u” ahead of their SXSW showcases, listed below. “Lost u” is from their forthcoming LP ‘straightjacket’ out in May. Even SoulCycle is making an appearance teaming up with Spotify to bring five DJs to their pop-up starting Monday March 16th through Friday March 20th at The Spotify House 901 E 6th St. There are also some great Continue reading

Terrine LA

A_Terrine

Last night we finally made it to Terrine, the new restaurant on Beverly with Chef Kris Monringstar at the helm, which opened in December. The food was fantastic, from the mussels to the sides of baby carrots and cauliflower, fish and chips and octopus with burrata, we refused to get up from the table for hours. Finally the Chef himself came out to say hello and goodnight as the playlist started spinning old Northern Cali favorites Operation Ivy. Apparently the chef is not only a genius in the kitchen but also an old punk rocker. Cheers to that. Continue reading

Freedom Fry, Yeah You

Freedom-Fry-Yeah-You

Digging this musical Monday track, “Yeah You” just released by Freedom Fry, an LA-based duo made up of Marie Seyrat and Bruce Driscoll of Blondfire. It’s got a sweet tinged Family Of The Year meets The Submarines vibe, perfect on this hazy sort of gloomy morning, which deserves a listen or few. They’re performing at SXSW on March 18th at the Palm Door on Sabine.
