Stephen Shore in Aspen

The Aspen Art Museum is showing recent work from Stephen Shore during this week’s Art Aspen fair in Aspen Colorado. Stephen was (and still is) the head of the Bard photo department while I was a film student there. I signed up and was accepted to three of his classes, three semesters in a row and at the start of every semester I had to go to him to drop the class because Continue reading

Georgica

While my vacation was a technical bust because I ended up working the whole time (always a good thing, no complaints here) I did manage to see a lot of people I love and eat lots of great food in the company of great friends. Taryn Manning came into town for some events and a press junket for her new film “The Perfect Age of Rock n Roll” so I got to pull a ton of gorgeous threads for her which is always fun. My last night was a bit whirlwind. We drove out to the Hamptons Saturday afternoon with our friends Matt Levine and Taryn, who was doing a DJ set that night at Georgica where we were treated to a beautiful dinner by their chef Seth Levine Continue reading

Interview Magazine, Russian Edition

It seems Aliona Doletskaya, the former Russian Vogue Editor in Chief, has found a home at the soon to launch Interview Magazine Russian Edition. I’m still obsessed with the 2008 re-launch of Interview mag in NYC… the art direction etc is phenomenal, one of the best magazines in the country for proper fashion imagery and art if you ask me. It’s really not surprising that Bernd Runge, former publisher of Conde Nast Russia was tapped by Mercury to be the new publisher of their latest acquisition for the Russians, and hence Aliona. Mercury is the luxury Continue reading

J Shoes

Don’t know how I missed J Shoes all these years ( I love that the company’s home base is my parents hometown) but glad we found each other at Project NYC earlier this week. They’ve got amazing women’s boots and killer shoes for men. A little rugged with just enough distressed detail to make me swoon. Super affordable and in great shades of brown ideal for my favorite style of riding boots. Those are the men’s lace ups above but I’m campaigning for them to do a women’s version which I want to be the first to rock. Thanks to Project for the invite to browse and always having rad inexpensive brands for me to find. The dreamy women’s riding boot for Fall below…

Moni Moni

Apparently word has spread that I am chasing everything mandarin and someone sent me some images from a line of bags called Moni Moni, designed by Italian-born and bred Cinzia Moniaci since 2005. She moved to California in 2007 which might explain her amazing touch with bright colors. Below is the Fairmont clutch, perfect to add to any outfit for day or night. The image doesn’t do it justice as it’s slightly brighter and even more mandarin if you can imagine. I love it! Above is her Lily Peche shoulder bag that I’m also flipping over. I’ve become a total girly-girl, it has to be the final revolt to all those years clad in all black in high school and NYC… Continue reading

Anthony Mackie’s No Bar

One of my favorite actors and all around cool guys Anthony Mackie just opened a bar in Bed-Stuy! The opening for No Bar was this past Monday which was awesome luck since I was in town for it. Our friend Jason (another uber-cool gentleman) manages Anthony who I first met at an Oscars party in LA a few years ago. Anthony had just started building a house in New Orleans at the time which is where he lives when not in New York or LA. The bar is amazing and he built a lot of it with his own hands and opening night he was serving drinks himself, alongside his bar staff, while making sure everyone got a taste of his famous NOLA style red beans and Continue reading

Edmund Castillo Wedge in Mandarin

I’m having an all out moment with the color mandarin and when I get fixated, it’s done. I’m all over it. Hence, my obsession with this wicked Edmund Castillo wedge and a slew of other mandarin goodies I gathered for FashionEtc over the past couple weeks. Mr. Castillo has also been creative director for Sergio Rossi for the past six years which is why that line has been looking hot as well.

A Technical Vacation & Flourless Chocolate Cake

As of tomorrow I am technically on vacation. Even though I will miss waking up at the crack of dawn to blog before the rest of my day I’m looking forward to doing as little as possible back in NYC, with a few days in upstate New York and a few more in the Hamptons. All ideal places for sipping cocktails, catching the breeze and hanging with family and old friends. Of course knowing me I will probably post stuff along the way since traveling with family and good friends and good food is pretty much my favorite thing in the world. Plus, I will be seeing my old friend Gina who always has amazing recipes to share. She’s the one who taught me how to make flourless chocolate cake. The Hotel de Crillon recipe which I swear is so easy but sounds hard and makes you look like a kitchen goddess. The recipe is below if you feel inspired… Continue reading
