Adrian Grenier’s SHFT

Last night Adrian Grenier and film producer Peter Glatzer celebrated their double Webby Award win for their culturally and environmentally active website SHFT at the Green-Greenberg house in the Hollywood Hills. LA-based singer-songwriter Ferraby Lionheart played a great set while the young crowd made their way through three floors of the eco-friendly house, with visible solar panels on the roof (kind of amazing). SHFT is a new website that Adrian launched with Peter that curates film, fashion, music, art and “a host of resources that speak to a modern, inspirational, eco-conscious lifestyle“. I loved when Adrian said, “there is no ‘I’ in any of us” when Continue reading

Tibi Resort 2012

No wonder we are all aging so fast… Seasons get here overnight and I can’t remember what month we are in let alone the season. Anyhoo… Love Tibi‘s Resort 2012 (!!) collection from designer Amy Smilovic. Beautiful simple lines, great palette. More looks below… Continue reading

Mr. Little Jeans

Suburbs by Mr Little Jeans

Just discovered Mr.Little Jeans. Love this Arcade Fire cover she did. Mr. Little Jeans is actually Monica Birkenes, a Norwegian musician now based in London. Her artist name is taken from a character in Wes Anderson‘s film Rushmore. Love it. She’s got a sense of humor too, going by her Myspace profile… Who is putting money on her being in the Coachella line up in 2012?

Ward Kelvin for Summer

Obsessing over these Ward Kelvin pieces. The detailed cuff is like a little sculpture waiting to be worn. Ward used to design for Tiffany & Co. and David Yurman jewelry before launching his own line over a year ago and having his first collection picked up by Bergdorf’s. The monkey choker is available exclusively at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco or special order online. More below… Continue reading

N/Naka

Dying to try this new place N/Naka. A friend of mine tweeted (yes, that’s right I said ‘Tweeted’) about it recently and got me all excited for it. The place is reservations only and has a pretty strict cancellation policy but they source ingredients specifically for the night and everything seems kind of amazing. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 6pm to 9pm and you can bring your own wine for a $15 corkage fee. You can reserve by phone 310.836.6252 or online.

Nostalgia In Vogue

Rizzoli has released some pretty fashionable titles this year and in October will add one more to the list. Nostalgia In Vogue, edited by Eve MacSweeney with a foreword by Anna Wintour is packed with essays by Joan Didion, Margaret Atwood, Patti Smith, Edmund White, Karl Lagerfeld, Carly Simon, Manolo Blahnik, Ann Packer, Anjelica Huston, Joyce Carol Oates, A. M. Homes, and so many more. The images are gorgeous, I just looked at the PDF they sent me and I am obsessed with the Ann Packer ones especially. Endless inspiration here, can not wait to get my hands on the book! Love the Irving Penn image below… Continue reading

Aldo Heels & Bag

I was pulling at Aldo for Taryn yesterday and stumbled on the rad little bag below. I also got these heels for her a few weeks ago and she’s already worn them a few times. They are perfect for summer and so affordable it’s kind of insane. Both styles are in stores now. Continue reading

RIP Adolfas Mekas

I woke up this morning to sad news. Adolfas Mekas, my old film professor from Bard passed away this morning. He was 85 and an amazing man with an even more amazing history which he would share with his students at every chance. He is the one who introduced me to so much of what influences me today. There is a 14-hour film called “The Human Condition” that he would screen every four years so you only had one chance to see it. I sat through that film and was rewarded with a small card that read “I Survived The Human Condition”. That was his sense of humor. He was truly special and I feel lucky to have known him and learned from him. Rest in peace Adolfas. You will be missed. Long live St.Tula. Say hello to her from the rest of us…

Lykke Li in LA

Lykke Li played at Wiltern Theatre in LA last night. We didn’t go to the show but we did make it to the private after party at Bar Marmont after our dinner at The Chateau (where Sir Paul McCartney made an appearance…) Those are Alina‘s Burak Uyan heels that we were busy ogling (as were a lot of the guests). I love Lykke Li and missed her in NYC as well so am a little bummed but alas, I have a feeling she will be at Coachella next year…

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Vanity Fair Cover

Vanity Fair July! Can’t wait. Still kind of obsessed with these two. The cover is an unseen and unpublished photo of the royal couple from Mario Testino‘s engagement-portrait session. Not the most exciting image in the world but the article sounds pretty interesting… Plus, now VF can boast to being the first glossy magazine in the US to have them on their cover outside of the tabloids.
