LACMA is screening a bunch of amazing Claude Chabrol films this weekend.

United Nude

Love these booties from United Nude. The line was founded in 2003 by shoemaker Galahad Clark and architect Rem D Koolhaas who remains the Creative Director of the line. Love the back story of the company as well. No, it’s not the same Rem Koolhaas that designed the New York Prada flagship store but he is his nephew. The “Cup Baggy Mild in Pewter” bootie above is new for Spring 2011 and will hit stores in March.

Erwin Olaf

I am obsessed with this artist I saw over the weekend at the Arts Fair at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar. Born in the Netherlands in 1959, Erwin Olaf has lived and worked in Amsterdam since the early 80’s. I love his method of turning photographs into paintings… So beautiful and moody.

Wow. Zuckerberg & Eisenberg. Finally.

This will go down as one of those phenomenal cultural moments. Beyond. I have a massive crush on both of them. Talent is a turn on in every form… Amazing to see them both on one screen.

Art Los Angeles Contemporary

I’m spending the day at the Art Los Angeles Contemporary at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica which opened this week on January 27th and runs through January 30th. This is their second time around with the fair and my first time going so not sure what to expect but there seem to be a ton of great galleries participating so I’m excited to see what they brought. Raymond Pettibon will be there on Sunday, he’s done a a lot of the Black Flag and Sonic Youth album covers amongst others… his work is above. In addition to art work there are also performances and discussions.

Valentino Couture Spring 2011

I love pretty. Valentino Couture Spring 2011. Today is a day for reminiscing, that’s the effect pretty sometimes has… I’ll be the first to admit that going to Couture shows was even more amazing than RTW. I went only once for Couture while working as Fashion Director for Russian Elle in 2004. Small, quiet shows, all equally stunning. If I’m remembering right I was there for Fall Couture so it was Summertime in Paris and we had two, maybe three, shows per day. Most editors from Continue reading

Choices Music Video

I directed and styled this music video for a young musician out of NYC back in 2006. We did it with absolutely no budget because I thought she had a lot of talent and was banking on that. Literally, no budget. I bought her clothes at Forever 21 for $80, put it together with her own tights and boots. The day of the shoot at my friend Gina’s place in Rhinebeck New York it was just the three of us on set: her manager pressed play on the CD player for her to sing to while I shot the whole thing on an old 16mm Bolex. No assistants, no lighting equipment, no 2nd cameras, just me, a Bolex and her singing. Back in the city, I spent DAYS syncing the film to the Continue reading

Nan Goldin for Scanlan & Theodore

Nan Goldin shot a lookbook for Australian designers Scanlan & Theodore with Erin Wasson somewhere in upstate New York, which we all know has the greatest beat up old mansions in the country. I shot a music video at a friends 18th century estate years ago.. love that shabby look. Nan has been an obsession of mine since a friend gave me a copy of “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency” freshman year at Bard. Another photographer friend of mine from Continue reading

Olivier Theyskens for Theory

Olivier Theyskens can do no wrong. His Nina Ricci collections were the best they ever had. Thank goodness someone at Theory knew enough to hire him to design and reinvigorate their line. It’s gorgeous and finally available. I am beyond obsessed. Beautiful cuts and tailoring with a perfect balance of pieces for the mass consumers who will still find great basics and for us fashion addicts who will appreciate his Belgium sensibility and subtle nuances of fabric and style. LOVE.

Stella Artois Cafe at Sundance

One of the few things I did at Sundance besides watch films hourly and daily was grab lunch at the Stella CafĂ© presented by Food & Wine and Sorel at the Galaxy Tab Lift. It’s in the same space on Main Street where MySpace had their cafe. The food is always stellar (no pun intended) and it’s nice to chill outside in the snow and sun when the weather permits. This year the cafe Continue reading
