Found my new favorite brunch place and it’s in Brooklyn. Gran Electrica is super easy to get to, just one stop on the F train into Dumbo, the Jay Street stop and a ten minute walk. Best ceasar salad with anchovy paste on croutons and amazing ceviche and crab and the bloody Marias are to die for.
Award season is here… This week in LA there will be a lot of dresses flowing through town, even more than usual. Love these for the red carpet. Sundance starts in two weeks and as always I am beyond excited. Sleep becomes a luxury but the energy of the filmmakers and film lovers gives me all the rejuvenation I need. That and amazing beauty products. Along with great films there is of course a mountain high list of dinners, parties and other fun events. I usually wake up at 7AM to make it to my first 9AM screening (see above, last year I showed up for the first screening of the season before the volunteers…) and surface from the theaters around 9pm, just in time to hit a dinner and after party. One of my favorite places to do both is LA-born Rock & Reilly’s who just opened their second spot in Park City. Speaking of faux fur for the new year, I found this perfect vest at Darryl’s in Rhinebeck last week while doing some post Christmas shopping. It was on sale for $50 so I couldn’t resist even though I have more than enough faux fur in my closet. There was a lot of great vintage shopping in Rhinebeck as well, and a cute little consignment shop across the way from Darryl’s on Market Street that had a great selection of bags and clothes. It’s only an hour and a half from the city by train or car so the perfect day trip. There is an amazing home decor store called Spruce as well, which I fell in love with. You can hit Upstate Films for a movie and Liberty next door for food and cocktails after.
NYE has never been a night for me to go out or go big. I usually end up at home in my sweats falling asleep by 12:30AM. This year a friend of mine and I decided to at least leave the neighborhood so will be ringing in the new year with beer and pickles in hand at The Pickle Shack in Brooklyn. The bartenders are cute and the grilled cheese is awesome. What more can a girl ask for? So the look is more day than night on the town but that’s just right for me. Sole Society booties above, with a Givenchy black and beige Antigona clutch, a pink faux fur jacket from Mural, and a Stella and Dot bracelet for stacking below (a little faux bling never hurt on NYE).
