Fun & Fancy Day Look 1

I dress up no matter where I have to go or what I have to do so I like to keep things a little fun during the day. I also like to break some of the rules and am a big fan of contrasting colors and ideas. This is a fun somewhat edgy day look great for creative meetings, fashion shows and business lunches. A flower print blouse like this one from TopShop with a pair of white skinny Ksubi jeans (any white jeans will work, JBrand has some great ones as well!) and an oversized grey blazer like this one from Richard Chai keep it light but pulled together. The McQueen peep toe pumps are to die for and I love this neutral Reed Krakoff leather tote to top it all off.

Asos

British based Asos, which sells exclusively online, came to LA recently with a preview of their line and I was reminded how great a line it is! The price points are ridiculously cheap but that doesn’t affect their design or quality. I’m totally obsessed with this sweet little leather envelope clutch that’s for sale now. Also the oxford pumps below from Fall 2011 that will go on sale later this year.

The Weekend

The Weeknd – Lonely Star by The_Weeknd

Love this track “Lonely Star” from The Weekend aka vocalist Abel Tesfaye. It’s off the new mix tape Thursday which was just released and can be downloaded for free (!) off his website.

Date Night, For The Weekend

I love getting ready for a date, the ritual of pulling together the perfect look to impress a new boy. This is my dream date outfit, a little girly and sweet with just a touch of spice and edge… An Alberta Ferretti dress with sky high Giuseppe Zanotti heels and this Reed Krakoff clutch. Throw on a few of the Graham leather studded triple wrap bracelets and run off into the night for some fun.

Pan Am Originals Collection

Pan Am has a lot going on these days. In addition to a new show premiering on ABC September 25th (with Christina Ricci! Yay!) they’ve also re-issued some fashionable classics from their accessories archive that I am totally obsessing over. Love this Explorer bag. I saw the whole collection of goodies including bags and passport covers at Project earlier this week. Watch a preview of the show below… Continue reading

Erica Anenberg

Love this Erica Anenberg knuckle duster ring though I wish those were real diamonds and gems… But the Swarovski crystals make it uber-affordable which is nice too. I like this one as well… Continue reading

Ugg Collection

Kind of obsessed with these new Ugg Collection boots. Not what you would expect from Ugg which is a good thing… They’re hitting stores and online in September.

The Kenneth Anger Book

The 2nd edition of Kenneth Anger by Alice L Hutchinson published by Black Dog Press is being released in September and includes 180 color and black and white film stills. The LA-based Avant Garde filmmaker is a legend for lots of reasons most notably his 1963 classic short film Scorpio Rising, which is a staple for film students everywhere (and how I first got introduced to him).

The Rapture

The Rapture, “How Deep Is Your Love” by The FADER

So happy The Rapture are finally back! The bands last studio album came out almost five years ago so it’s about time. “How Deep Is Your Love” is off of In the Grace of Your Love out September 6th. Totally unrelated (but seems appropriate) photo from a shoot I did in LA in 2009 above…

My Little Paris

I got the sweetest little book in the mail yesterday! My Little Paris is actually a Paris-based website started three years ago by sisters Fany and Amandine Pechiodat to share their local secrets of where to go, what to buy and how to do just about anything (including hiring a professional heartbreaker that specializes in breaking up unhappy couples!) I love Paris and will take any excuse to go there, mentally or physically, by book or by plane, so this is a nice addition to my stockpile of places to be and things to do next time I am there. The book of insider secrets (and drawings by Kanako Kuno) is being published by Editions du Chene and hits stores this October.
