Courtney Cox & David Arquette for Satya Jewelry

Satya Jewelry launched a collaboration way back in 2007 with Courteney Cox and David Arquette for the EBMRF Foundation. The butterfly is the symbol of hope and freedom and I love this necklace which is still for sale. The Satya Foundation donates 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this necklace to the foundation, aiming to find a cure for the rare childhood skin disease.

Georgiana in Venice

This week kicks off the festivities for the 54th Venice Biennale, a contemporary art festival that’s been going on since 1895. The festival takes place every two years and opens officially this Saturday through November 27th, 2011. Eighty-nine countries have come to show off works by 83 artists in 29 permanent pavilions and my friend (and new contributor) Georgiana Moreton is there to cover some of the fun things going on. Her entries will be posted all week beginning today!

Brazilian Tan Light

Dying to try this, I just got a few samples of three new self tanners from Rodial, just in time for summer. Dark, Daily and Light, all with different powers to make you look tan and pretty. I have been using the same self tanner for years after lots of experimentation with the high end brands but I am always excited to see if anything can match or beat my old favorite. Stay tuned…

Jeff Kite EP

I Know You Better Than That by Jeff Kite

I have been obsessively listening to these tracks for two weeks now ever since Jeff Kite gave me a preview copy of the new (and debut) EP he is releasing. The songs have killer lyrics with a catchy melancholy-joy MGMT sound we all love. I met Jeff at Coachella a year ago when he first started playing with Julian Casablancas new band. Jeff spent the better half of last year traveling with Julian’s band and in between touring he worked on a few songs which he’s releasing this month. Drummer Alex Carpetis plays on some of these tracks and Warren Fu did the graphics above. Jeff is having a listening party with Anthony Polcino of Soft Pipes at Satellite in Silverlake tonight if you’re around. The listening starts at 9pm. Jeff also did the music in this rad French New Wave inspired video directed by Zach Kranzler that I totally dig. Click to watch… Continue reading

Alexander McQueen at The Met

I finally saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Tuesday. It was beyond mind blowing and moving but that probably goes without saying. The Met has extended the show through August 7th and for $50 a person visitors can access the galleries between 9:30am to 2:30pm while the rest of the museum is closed on Mondays. Also, the hour long wait can be avoided if you happen to have a membership which then allows you to go straight in rather than waiting. That would have been helpful to know before I stood in line but it was worth it. 150,000 people have been through the exhibition since it opened, the Met’s 2nd largest show to date after 2005’s “Vincent van Gogh: The Drawings.” Below is a short clip of the Kate Moss hologram finale from his Fall/Winter 2006 runway show. Overkill….

Ok I know I am risking overkill here but it’s really not my fault. I have every image of every shoe from the Fall 2011 Brian Atwood collection and it’s been very hard not to just turn this into the Brain Atwood blog. I mean every shoe is just better than the last, example A above. Dying…

Lindsay Lohan & Richard Phillips at Gagosian

“Lindsay has an incredible emotional and physical presence on screen that holds an existential vulnerability, while harnessing the power of the transcendental—the moment in transition. She is able to connect with us past all of our memory and projection, expressing our own inner eminence.

Well said Richard Phillips. Precisely why the girl will have an easy come back once she decides to really and finally sort herself out and god forbid doesn’t kill herself in the grueling process. I am hoping for the best because A) I have a soft spot for young hot messes because seeing this business up close explains a lot and B) I genuinely think she’s a great actress and really love watching her on screen. Gagosian Gallery will present Richard Phillips’ first short film “Lindsay Lohan,” which will be included in Commercial Break, presented by the Moscow-based Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Venice, June 1st through 5th, during the 54th Biennale di Venezia. Also, I’m excited to announce we will have a contributing writer reporting from the Biennale so stay tuned for lots of art events going on some place I want to be but can’t (again) this year. To view the 90-second Lindsay video click here… Continue reading

Arianne Tunney Clutch

I love this Arianne Tunney clutch. I got Taryn the brown one to wear a few weeks ago and actually prefer the brown over the black but either way that brass clasp is amazing. Taryn’s look below… Continue reading
