Jammies, Cool New Mommy Gifts

No, this is not turning into a scones and baby blog. But lately there have been a lot of babies circling… we even had a few of them at the Art + Farm wine soiree I hosted last Saturday evening. Anyway, while I was in NYC shooting last week I popped into a couple of market appointments and stumbled onto the cutest baby stuff so had to grab one of these Jammies jars for one of my friends who just had a new born (*four months old, she is ridiculously cute and was an honored and well behaved guest at said soiree…). Anyway, Jammies was launched by Brian and Meryl, a brother and sister duo, whose dad used to gift pajames in jars back in the 80’s. Check out the goods below. NY-based artist Simone Shubuck is having an opening of new work at Taylor de Cordoba‘s new location. “Do You Like Old Things, or New Things That Look Old?” will be up from April 27th through June 1st, with an opening reception on the 27th from 6-8pm at 6021 Washington Blvd, Culver City.

Wedge Nation

I used to have an aversion to wedges (gasp!) Something about the thick heel… But then a few summers ago I started wearing them to polo matches and summertime beach soirees and inevitably warmed up to the idea. Wedges are literally the most comfortable high “heels” you can wear. So when there is grass or sand involved at a party, what else are you going to do? Wear flats? Hell no. And these days, everyone is doing gorgeous espadrille versions so I am officially hooked. Dolce Gabbana wedge, Gucci dark brown leather studded wedge, Aldo’s studded espadrille, the Tory Burch Jackie wedge, Madison Hardin platform wedge, and Sperry Top Sider’s Aurora wedge. New York Magazine, Childhood in New York

I don’t remember what New York magazine did last year for their Annual Yesteryear Issue but this year’s “Childhood in New York” issue is through the roof! There is a reason why the best editors and coolest kids (sorry everywhere else…) live and or are from NYC. I died over this one little girl especially. Hysterical… She is seven and goes to Film Forum “a lot”. Love her! All of these kids are amazing, you have to read their QAs. Every article in this week’s issue is worth reading. I am enthralled… And totally bummed that my mom decided to go to on to Baltimore when we emigrated instead of landing in Brooklyn the way Regina Spektor did (that’s her and her family above). So as it turns out not only are my friends talented but so are their parents. Our friend Katie Jones, who is a rad photographer in her own right (and the owner of stakes’ winning horse, I Dazzle) has a beautiful talented mom. Nicholette Kominos‘ new show of drawings and sculpture, “Wandering Boundaries,” is opening at Offramp Gallery on April 28 from 2pm to 5pm and will be up throuh June 2nd, with a closing day talk with the artist at 3pm. Come by! You know where we’ll be on the 28th…
