Marissa Webb in LA

marissa webb

NY based designer Marissa Webb was in LA this week and we went to see her second collection today at the Sunset Marquis where she was bunkering with her rad PR maven Megan Maguire Steel. I just saw the collection in NY during their press preview a few weeks ago while back in town shooting for Club Monaco (*those pics come out in May!) but honestly, I can’t get enough of looking at her designs. I LOVE what Marissa does and pulled a lot of pieces from her first collection for my clients over the past couple of months. She has a great eye for shapes and cuts and does seemingly simple classics in an exciting new way. Sick heels from the new fall 2013 collection above and more to covet below. I want EVERYTHING. Magic Hour by Tara Subkoff, Starring Chloe Sevigny

Tara Subkoff directed this short film with Chloe Sevigny (and a surprise appearance from our friend Alexi Yulish !) that went live today in time for MOCA‘s gala event tomorrow night. Written by Tatiana Von Furstenberg and Tara, it’s a pretty funny LA bitch fest (*bitching about LA… you know what I mean). Urs Fischer‘s new show opens at MOCA this Sunday. Continue reading

Tory Burch Sandal Spring 2013

tory burch ambrosia shell sandal

I know it seems I have been on a serious Tory Burch kick lately and I have. But it has nothing to do with the fact that one of my favorite people in the world (one Ms. Esther Song) is their fabulous PR gal here in LA. I swear it’s entirely based on the fact that Tory has been killing it with gorgeous collections, especially the accessories. Love this Ambrosia shell sandal from spring 2013.

Generation Ink

generation ink

Just got a gorgeous book in the mail from Pelluceo Publishing. New Zealand born photographer Paul Nathan shot a pretty diverse group of guys and gals from Williamsburg, Brooklyn with all kinds of ink in all kinds of places. As I flipped through the pages of Generation Ink I kept looking for familiar faces from over the years but found not a single one, which tells me two things: 1) I am no longer in my twenties and 2) there are hundreds of thousands of tattooed bodies and faces in Williamsburg so impossible to get them all. Love the book. It has a simple beauty in it’s straightforward approach to the portraits. Some of the bodies below. Continue reading

Richard Hell, I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp

richard hell archives

Something about the events over the past few years are awakening the angry punk rocker in me so it will be nice to dive head first into this book, which is a must read. Richard Hell‘s new memoir, “I Dreamed I Was A Very Clean Tramp,” just came out and somehow I missed his talk and signing at Skylight Books last month. They still have signed copies of the book if you’re into that sort of thing, but more importantly I really want to read this book. My pile of books is sky high by my bed right now but I may skip a few and jump right into this one. It looks amazing. Serious punk history. Continue reading

Make Up Artist

Sometimes make up just makes me want to paint. There is a reason why they’re called ‘make up artists’ isn’t there? Love these shades, they inspire me. Bobbi Brown lip balm, Stila jewel eye shadow, Dior Cherie Bow addict lipstick, and a Burberry ‘complete’ eye palette. Now go paint your face.

Rectify, Sundance Channel

Rectify-Amantha

During the actual festival at Sundance it is really hard to catch everything you want to see and because I knew I would eventually see (and love!) the Sundance Channel’s new original series Rectify I missed it while in Park City in exchange for catching some of the other hard to find films. That said, I was really excited to get an invitation last week to a roundtable with some of the cast from the show including Abigail Spencer who is a doll and who I’ve Continue reading
